The History of Multnomah University

Rev. John G. Mitchell founded Multnomah School of the Bible in 1936 based on his vision to instruct men and women in the truth of God’s word. As we grew, the demand for diverse educational programs in service to God did too. In 1993 our name changed to Multnomah Bible College and Seminary to reflect this expansion. Finally, in 2008, we made the transition and title change to Multnomah University as it is known and loved today.

For over 80 years, Multnomah has equipped its students to love Christ and serve their neighbors wherever God leads. With every new degree and program offered, we strive to ready students for a career that brings glory and honor to God. In turn, our efforts continue to fulfill the mission of Multnomah while effectively adapting to the demands of the modern workforce.
